During 2003, K-State participated in a LAAP (Learning Anytime Any Place) grant project to extend services to distance students. OME worked with the Regents Educational Communication Center and campus advisors to develop an online advising tool that is now integrated with K-State Online.
The Advising tools include a real-time Degree Auditing Report System (DARS) connection and a reformatted DARS report specified by the Advising Users Group. Student ID photos and selected SIS data is also available to advisors with this system.
The original advising tools were released to a pilot group in Fall 2003 and released to all advisors Spring 2004. Since that time additional features have been added at the request of the advising community, such as the Private Memo feature, which was added to K-State Online in 2006.
