Susan Okin is a Professor of Political Science at Stanford. Her most recent book is Is Multiculturalism Bad for Women? (The book contains an essay by Okin with responses by twelve
authors, including Joshua Cohen, Martha Nussbaum and Matthew Howard, and a reply by Okin.) She is also the co-editor of Feminism (2 Vols, edited with Jane Mansbridge); and she
is author of what is now regarded a classic text in social-political analysis, Justice, Gender, and the Family. The title of her lecture is "International Development and the Importance of
Gender."
