Barbara Bergmann is Professor Emerita of Economics at University of Maryland and at American University in Washington, DC. She has written and spoken extensively on women's issues, social policy, labor economics, microsimulation, the economics of college sports, and new methodologies for economics. She is currently working on a book titled Child Care Needs: What Should We Ask of Government? as well as a cartoon book explaining the Social Security system. She is the author of several books, including The Economic Emergence of Women, In Defense of Affirmative Action, and Saving Our Children From Poverty: What the United States Can Learn From France. She is coauthor of A Transactions Model of the United States Economy. The title of her lecture is "Bringing About Equality Between Women and Men: What Needs To Be Done."
