Susan Edgerley will deliver the fifth annual Huck Boyd Lecture in Community Media at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 21 at Kansas State University.
Ms. Edgerley was appointed metropolitan editor for The New York Times in October 2003. She had been deputy metropolitan editor of The New York Times since 1999. Before that, she had been the executive editor, New York Times News Service since 1997. She has edited various areas of the metropolitan section since joining The Times as a copy editor in 1989.
From 1985 to 1989, Ms. Edgerley was an assistant managing editor at the Philadelphia Daily News and a reporter and editor at The Wichita Eagle in Kansas from 1979 until 1985. She began her career as a reporter at the Arkansas City (Kan.) Traveler.
Ms. Edgerley, 49, graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree in English and journalism from Kansas State University in 1976.
